TL;DR

The Town of High River provides guidelines on what can be recycled, including batteries, Styrofoam, pizza boxes, and glass.

The Town of High River is reminding residents about the proper way to recycle various items. Residents can call the town or ask staff at the recycling centre for guidance on what can be recycled.

The recycling centre accepts several battery types—Ni-MH, Ni-Cd, SSLA/Pb, Li-Ion and Ni-Zn—provided they weigh under five kilograms. Car batteries are excluded, but small rechargeable tool batteries may be dropped off.

Breakable Styrofoam is accepted, while bendy, plastic‑style or black Styrofoam is not. Pizza boxes can be recycled if they are free of oil, grease or food residue.

All glass, both clear and coloured such as olive‑oil bottles, is now accepted at the centre. A complete list of accepted items is posted on the town’s website.

The centre operates from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday‑Thursday and Saturdays, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays.
