Okotoks residents advised to protect plants from overnight frost

It's time to "leaf" the frost advisory in mind.

Residents in Okotoks and surrounding areas are being warned to take precautions to protect their plants from a cold snap expected overnight. Environment Canada has issued a yellow-level frost advisory for the Foothills region, which includes Okotoks, High River, and other nearby communities.

The advisory covers areas around Okotoks, including De Winton, Diamond Valley, and Priddis, as well as parts of Vulcan County and Siksika Nation. Temperatures are expected to fall low enough for widespread frost or freezing conditions Sunday night before warming again Monday morning.

Environment Canada recommends covering plants, especially those in frost-prone areas, to prevent damage. The advisory carries a moderate impact level and high forecast confidence, indicating a high likelihood of frost or freezing temperatures.
